Earth Day is coming up on Monday, April 22nd and we wanted to share some tips on easy things you can do to make your everyday life a little greener. We are committed to doing our part to protect our environment for future generations, and every little bit helps. This Earth Day make the choice to add one or two new green acts to your daily routine.
AROUND THE HOUSE
See The Light
Installing a compact fluorescent bulb (CFL) is the quickest and easiest way to save energy. CFLs convert most of the energy they use into light rather than heat, making them more energy efficient. Bonus: They consume about 75 percent less electricity and last up to 10 times longer, saving you money!
Unplug
Any electronics with LED (light emitting diode) that glows even after you turn it off continues to draw power (that you pay for). Unplug your TV, cell phone charger, and printer from wall sockets and plug them into power strips instead. When you leave a room, flip the strip switch to cut the flow of electricity.
Shop Local
Did you know that typical grocery store produce travels nearly 1,500 miles before it ends up on your plate? That means added pollution, not to mention food that isn't very fresh. Shop at your local farmers market, join a CSA, and request that your local grocery store carries more local foods. Remember, vote with your fork! Buying from local farmers means you're not only getting the freshest food possible, you're saving energy.
Make Convenience Food Eco-Friendly
As parents, we appreciate convenience, and the market for convenience food aimed at parents of little ones is vast. We've all seen the aisles full of disposable food pouches. Before we created Little Green Pouch, those pouches were often the only thing that got Maggie through a trip to the grocery store with her two boys. But the waste is just mind-boggling.
This Earth Day we challenge you to make the switch to creating your own convenience food. With a little planning and prep, you can have healthy on-the-go snacks at your finger tips without the waste of other store-bought snack. Bonus: you will also know exactly what you are feeding your little ones. Buy fruit, veggies, grains, yogurt and other favorite foods in bulk. Check out our recipes for some of our favorites. Fill your Little Green Pouch with the cooked and pureed yumminess of your choice, label and pop in the freezer. When you need a convenient snack, throw a pouch in your bag and you are ready to go!

We recycle a lot, teaching the kids about recycling too, reuse things (wrapping and boxes) and hope for our own garden someday…
We recycle, we use cloth diapers and wipes (they are on their second kid now!) we use reusable bags for shopping, and also reusable produce bags, we have a garden and fruit trees too :-)
We cloth diaper, recycle, make our own baby food and use reusable bags.
We recycle as much as possible, glass, plastic, paper, aluminum. We are also starting to compost for another aspect of recycling.
We have a bin we use for our recycling, reusable bags for groceries, and love using organic items!
We switching to all cloth grocery bags and starting to buy all local produce at our local farmers market!
I recycle paper and cans in our town.
We rarely buy bottle beverages other than milk. We use led or cfl light bulbs. We utilize the library As much as possible. We purchase most of clothing, furniture, toys, etc second hand. Resell, give away, and recycle as much as possible.
We cloth diaper & use cloth wipes. We use fabric shopping bags at the store. Instead of buying/using bottled water we filter our own. We also make our own pouches and have a garden. It’s time to put in a compost pile!
We cloth diaper and use little green pouches.
We try to re-use, re-purpose, and re-cycle as much as we can! We use cloth diapers, cloth wipes, reusable shopping bags, reusable snack bags, etc. and we re-purpose glass jars and plastic containers for all kinds of uses around the house. Lately, we’ve become a bit obsessed about making our own natural cleaning and personal care products.
reusable glass water bottles for the family, adding recycling to trash service, using more natural homemade products that eliminate chemicals.
We are making sure to recycle everything we can and reduce the use of unnecessary things.
We try to live a simple life. We recycle, upcycle, cloth diaper, grow a lot of our own food, etc…. The most important thing I did today was talk to my 3 year old how to be greener. We talked about the recycle bins, compost bin, tuning lights off, and using less water.
We are turning off the ac!!
Carrying my reuseable water bottle with me everywhere I go instead of using other cups/bottles.
There are a lot of things we do to be green. I use CFLs and I take advantage of daylight savings time by opening the curtains to let light in the house. Since its spring I also open the windows to enjoy the breeze as it cools my house so I don’t have to use the air conditioner. I’ve also been making meals in double or triple batches so I don’t have to cook so much and heat up the house. I’ve started giving my three yr old showers instead of baths to conserve water. I also use little green pouches, my husband loves to use them too, I send yogurt in his lunch. All these steps have helped us save money and be greener.
We are turning off the ac!!
I am composting all veggie and fruit scraps to help feed my veggie garden! We recycle paper glass cans and plastic as much as possible!
I picked up garbage in my neighbourhood today! (And on a weekly basis)
Turning out lights & teaching my kids to use water wisely
Recycling and switching out light bulbs to conserve energy.
All our water is from re-fillable water bottles! And we recycle through out local waste company. And I just bought my first order of Little Green Pouches! :)
I recycle religiously, use Little Green Pouches and stackable snack containers instead of plastic baggies. I reuse my plastic grocery bags for dirty diapers and garbage bags in the bathroom.

In addition to recycling I recently began commuting to work by bike three days a week.
